It is time to think about your next stream rod; Yellowstone Angler compared different 5 wt models of several brands. According to their findings, the G-Loomis NRX topped the list again (as it did in the 8 wt Shootout performed in 2014: http://themissionblog.com/?p=6423), with the Scott Radian, Loop OptiStream and Hardy Zenith tied in second place, all scoring 1.5 points or percent less than the NRX; the Orvis Helios 2 (tip flex) was given an independent 3rd place overall, trailing 3 points (%) behind the NRX.
Why the NRX!? The ‘testers’ agreed that the NRX out-performed all the other rods (including the models produced by Scott, Loop, Hardy, Orvis, St. Croix, Winston, Douglas, Fenwick, Sage, Beulah, Mystic, Ross, Echo, TFO, Rugged Creek, and Aleka) in performance at 25 ft, performance at 45 ft and as perfect 5 wt performance (scoring full marks = 20/20 for all three those tests/criteria).
