The elusive bread hatch is an event like no other, and figuring it out requires an extremely specialised fly fishing approach. Some say it only happens between the second blue moon and the third pink sky of the year; or was it between the second pink moon and the third blue sky?

Fly fishing for golf course koi can be trickier than it looks. Weeks of ‘training’ these skittish fish to eat pieces of bread eventually led to catching one of them on a “bread fly” during a “bread hatch. Watch the full film by Matt Kennedy and Camm McDermott below.
