IT’S ALL HOMEWATER: A NORTHERN LIGHT

IT’S ALL HOMEWATER: A NORTHERN LIGHT

Ever since we featured Riverhorse Nakadate in issue 17 of The Mission, we’ve been waiting with great anticipation for this short film to come out.

Shot by the inimitable Tony Czech and narrated by Riverhorse, it covers his exploration of The Boundary Waters of Northern Minnesota – a vast area of lakes and rivers that is under threat because the Trump administration wants to approve a new mining operation that will poison the water.

“There will be no profits here for anyone, just the aftereffects of a lost ecosystem. Goodbye birds, goodbye bears, goodbye pristine waters, goodbye four-pound brook trout. They have all failedโ€”every mine of this type in history. Iโ€™ve never claimed to have all of the answers, yet some things are just fucking wrong. I am for the working man and womanโ€”for bread on the table and clothing on the back of a childโ€”but letโ€™s shoot arrow straight. This is not the place for it.” Riverhorse Nakadate.
