JUMPING CATS

We recently experienced unseasonable downpours in the Western Cape, heavy thunder showers that resulted in 50-100 mm rain in less than a day in some places. While our garden flooded and massive hail pellets wreaked havoc in the Paarl area, our good mate Platon Trakoshis sent us short cell phone clips of sharptooth catfish trying to jump a weir in the Berg River. This, I thought, would be the perfect opportunity to tick off catfish on the little Echo River Glass 3 wt…I grabbed the rod and headed straight to the Berg where I got to witness the catfish madness myself (nothing new to anglers in Gauteng I believe) and was lucky enough to pin a few of these fish on the Echo 3 wt:
