Touchdown and back to reality in South Africa, ok well only for a little bit. Having finished my 3rd season in Mongolia it is hard for me to imagine making it through a year without going there. Mongolia is part of me now and I will go there till the day I can not physically do it anymore.

We had another epic season at the Sweetwater Travel camps in Mongolia, and as always, Taimen or as I call them Huchosaurusrex fishing, was an emotional roller-coaster. But there is no other fish that will teach you the art of fish appreciation like Taimen fishing. We had a cracker of a start to the season, by landing more than 150 Taimen between the two camps in the first week. With more than 10 fish over a meter! Ok bear in mind this is exceptional fishing! The season rolled on and we kept landing big fish, but it was a season of monsters lost, with some of the clients coming up with names for the fish they lost, like The Cracken or Osama, need I say more.

I was also lucky enough to work with a epic film maker RA Beattie, he is just a epic dude. So watch the space for some epic stuff coming up. There was a photographer from Simms, Brian Grossenbacher, that snapped some great photo’s. We where also working hard with Charlie Conn on the Taimen fund(Looking after the future of Taimen).

So all in all another cracker of a season
