Colombia was never going to be a major fishing destination on the South American odyssey – but that wouldn’t stop me from swinging the long rod.
I never found any flats or areas to really target Permit in Colombia. I had quietly hoped to do so…
We hiked in to a beach in the middle of Tayrona National Park – no one around. Practically deserted! I really thought I’d find a Jack or two in the deep channel on the beach. While searching for a something bigger with fish imitations, I happened upon a shoal of little Permit feeding hard in the shore break.
A quick fly change later and I officially landed my fish Atlantic Permit. It was my only fish out of Playa Brava!
Amazing how such a small fish can put such a big smile on a chap’s face ๐
sorry to tell you that is not a permit, that’s a pompano!!! haha
