If there was one fish and fishery I wish we had here in SA, or that I at least had access to more, it would be shallow water Redfish on fly…
Ever since I first saw a picture of a Redfish, in an old Abu Garcia advert in an old BASSMASTER magazine when I was about 5 or 6 years old, I’ve been fascinated by them… I remember that advert so clearly… last light in the Everglades, a golden amber light dripping across this incredible looking beast with beaten copper flanks, and that signature spot on the tail… the beaming angler holding it against this backdrop seemed like a warrior to me, and the fish in his hands the ultimate prize…

So I’ve always been obsessed with these things, but weirdly, have never fished for them, or even seen one in the flesh in all my travels… perhaps thats part of the appeal… who knows…
