GRUNTER CLOUSER: STEP-BY-STEP

GRUNTER CLOUSER: STEP-BY-STEP

As Ewan Naude, our tutor for the Grunter Clouser says โ€œAny fly tyer worth their salt should know how to tie a Clouser Minnow.โ€ This pattern is a must have for any angler targeting marine species like grunter (introduced to Ewan by Marius Rousseau), cob, leervis and more. Ewanโ€™s Grunter Clouser is tied with a triggering red body, and a simple two tone Olive-White bucktail body.

This fly is best fished with a strip-drop retrieve on a floating line and long leader. Changing the dumbbell weight and leader length accordingly will alter the depth at which the Clouser swims.

These are the materials used to tie the Grunter Clouser fly:

Hook: Gamakatsu SL12 size 2/0

Thread: Danville 130D, RED

Weight: 2mm brass dumbell eyes

Tail: White & Olive Bucktail

Flash: UV Crystal flash

UV resin
