It’s a common fact that smallmouth bass prefer low light conditions, often haging out in the shadow of a boulder, but also commonly actively feeding at dusk and dawn. In the case of bigger smallmouth, they ofeten become increasingly nocturnal in their feeding activity.

A lot of guys make the mistake of going home early, especially when the bite has been slow. I have had many sessions that have gone from average to epic by staying on the water for the last two hours of daylight. Not only is it possible to double your score in the last gasp, but this is often the time when the fat boys come to the party.
